Introduction
Goals
- To provide new information on the mechanisms of important chronic diseases.
- To translate the knowledge to develop new diagnostic methods and therapeutic agents
for preventing and treating these disorders by using integrated cellular, molecular and system approaches.
Organization Chart
Strategy
- In addition to cardiovascular and musculoskeletal disorders, this Institute
will engage in frontier research in metabolic syndrome and its associate disorders
such as morbid obesity, diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia, etc.
- The Institute will develop one or two main themes. We consider integrated stem
cell research as a potentially feasible theme.
- Efforts will be made to organize a multidisciplinary team to investigate
signaling transduction and cytoprotection of embryonic and adult stem cells,
to carry out translational research and clinical studies.
- In collaboration with extramural investigators, we hope to build up a stem
cell research program to be internationally competitive and hopefully to be a recognized center of excellence.
