Training Programs

(1) Oncology Subspecialities Training Programs

For effective utilization of currently available clinical and basic research resources, training programs are developed to upgrade clinical laboratory techniques of specialists in medical oncology, surgical oncology and gynecological oncology to better manage the most important medical problems in Taiwan. Through the efforts of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Academia Sinica, initially, and of NHRI later, the "Oncology Training Program" was approved by the Department of Health in 1987 and has been continuously supported by government grant up to now. Besides faculty from three major medical centers, the program also draws invited speakers and visiting professors from the United States.

By using available human resources and equipment in the clinical research wards of Veterans General Hospital-Taipei and National Taiwan University Hospital, we trained the specialists of cancer research and treatment cooperating with every related department in these two hospitals. Presently, the training programs include medical oncology, surgical oncology and gynecological oncology. Except for the surgical oncology training program which had ended, others are still proceeding.
